How a contents pack-out works

  1. Instruction. The adjuster, insurer or contractor instructs us by phone or form. We confirm the attendance time.
  2. Site visit. We assess what can be moved, what is damaged and what needs special handling.
  3. Inventory and photographs. Every item is photographed, listed by room and given a condition note before it is moved.
  4. Pack and remove. Our own crews pack, protect and load everything, separating damaged items where the adjuster asks.
  5. Storage and reporting. Contents are sealed into containers in our Perth warehouse. The adjuster receives the inventory and regular updates.
  6. Return. When repairs are signed off, we deliver everything back and place it room by room. The adjuster receives a completion note.

Fire and smoke damage

After a fire, undamaged contents need to come out quickly before smoke and soot spread further, and before strip-out begins. We separate undamaged, cleanable and damaged items as the adjuster directs, and can deliver items to a specialist cleaner if one is appointed.

Flood and escape of water

Water damage gets worse the longer contents stay in a wet building. We remove furniture and belongings so drying can start, keep wet and dry items apart, and store everything until the property is dry and repaired. Repairs after escape of water often take months, so storage is planned for the full claim period.

Secure storage for the length of the claim

Contents are stored in sealed containers in our indoor warehouse in Perth, opened only by our team, with alarm, CCTV, access control, fire alarms and motion detectors. Storage runs for as long as the claim needs, and the adjuster can request a single item to be delivered to the policyholder's temporary accommodation (a retrieval charge applies).

Recent claim: a Perthshire property struck by lightning

After a property in Perthshire was struck by lightning, we bid for and won the clearance work. We carried out a full clearance of furniture and contents, along with rubble, plastics and bricks, bringing in plant machinery and a skip for the job.

For policyholders: what happens to your belongings

If your insurer or loss adjuster has asked us to look after your belongings, here is what to expect. We will agree a date and time with you, photograph and list everything before it moves, and keep it safe and dry until your home is ready. If you need something while it is in storage, tell your adjuster or call us and we will arrange it.
